Rich---Could be the fuel pump, could be a stuck carb float. One way to
differentiate would be to:
Fill the gas tank full. Pinch off the fuel line going to the carbs.
Leave the sump pan off the engine, or leave the plug out with no oil in
it. Wait a while (shouldn't take 5 days) to see if fuel comes out the
bottom of the engine. If it does, it's coming thru the pump opening in
the block. If nothing comes down, open up the fuel line to the carbs
and make the same test. The cause has to be one or the other.
The reason for the 'full gas tank' is to be sure the fuel level is
higher than the carbs.
I agree that the last thing worked on is usually the culprit, but dirt
holding open a float valve is not unusual!
