I have this exact base from Harbor Freight, as well as
their "travelling machinists" dial indicator, and they
work great.
I had ordered a $75 set from some place off the net,
and when I got it, the indicator needle had fallen off
the dial face. So I sent it back and spent $20 on the
set at Harbor Freight. The HF set actually seemed
higher quality than the $75 set.
The extra $5 for the base with the "on/off" switch is
well worth it.
