Richard---I think this is supposed to be a weep hole. No grease should be necessary for these pumps, with their carbon bearings. I have this hole facing the right side, thinking at some time I might have to squirt some lubricant in there in case of squeaks. My latest pump has been in there for over 100,000 miles. No leaks. No squeaks. Never had to do anything with it. Dick |
