Bob---I'm holding my hand up over my head! I also installed the "Home
Depot" gas valve-type manual shutoff valve at the head, but as a backup
for the standard one with the rubber diaphragm inside. After two
replacements failed in a short time, I put one of these brass ones
in...just in case, and leave it in the open position. That was 15 years
ago, and the one with the diaphragm is still good. I recently replaced
the manual valve because it was dripping. Costs less than $5.00. It is
short, and can be used with the standard water control valve without a
fuss.
