I had my rad recored last winter, using a modern 4 core, high density
material. It was a standard size right out of the rad shops application
book. It does not look exactly original, but is supposed to offer 30%
improved cooling capacity over the original design. As for running too cool,
that's the other job of the thermostat. No more over-heating problems, even
at the beach strip in 95 degree weather.

Ummm. Sorry to be a contrarian on this. The original TR6 radiator is a
two-row radiator. The "standard upgrade" is to go to a three-row setup.

This may be true, I am not an expert on available radiator cores.

I can't speak to this. Keep in mind that you don't want the motor running
too cool, too low a temp range is bad for the motor just as too high a
temp range is bad for the motor.
