I'm sure this topic has been discussed before, but......
I was going to fill the oil in the differential, just got new seals and axle
stub bearings installed by Quantumechanics and I got to looking around and
noticed that GL5 gear oil (like Mobile One Synthetic 75w90) was warned against
since it may cause the bronze bushings to corrode. Is this true? What is the
best oil to use?
While I'm at it what about the transmission? In speaking with John Esposito
at Quantum, he mentioned that I should use straight 40 or 50 weight (non
detergent) w/ my overdrive. The lighter weight works better w/ the OD, he
said.
Is it ok to use Mobile One Synthetic in the engine w/o any ill effects? I
used to use Castrol 20w50, but would like to switch to synthetics for more
lubrication.
