My Lucas alternator is fading, so I thought I'd upgrade to the Ford Fiesta
unit. Several have stated that it is a "bolt on" upgrade. Unfortunately,
this has not been the case for me.
My TR is a 75 model, with the air pump. My alternator pivots on a block
attached to the middle of the block. The air pump pivots on the same block
a little bit higher up. The alternator adjustment bolt is on the bottom of
the alternator. The Fiesta alternator adjusts at the top.
Can some one with an earlier TR6 confirm my theory that the earlier,
non-airpump models had an alternator pivot adjustment bolt on the upper
half of the alternator? If someone can email me a picture of their
alternator setup I would greatly appreciate it.
