Howard,

I used to own a GT6 and now own a TR6 so I can try to answer some of your
questions.

1. Is it ok to ask questions here? Answer:Most assuredly. Sometimes
you'll get three different answers from three different folks (in that case,
add the answers and divide by three :^) ). The one of the great values of
this list is the collective wisdom of its folks.

2. How do I pull the tach drive to get to the top bushing/washer on a Delco
Remy D204. Answer: I don't know. I do know that the Delco distributor in
the GT6 is basically a 6 cylinder version of the 4 cylinder distributor in
some Spitfires. You might contact the folks at Spitbits
(http://www.spitbits.com) or British Parts NW (http://www.bpnorthwest.com)
for more info. In any case, if you don't already have one, get a repair
manual I know that Bentley and Haynes had manuals for the GT6. I don't
know if the manuals are still in print. Victoria British
(http://www.victoriabritish.com/), The Roadster Factory
(http://www.the-roadster-factory.com/) or Amazon.com might be possible
sources. Get some parts catalogues - I don't think that Moss Motors
(http://www.mossmotors.com) or The Roadster Factory have GT6 catalogues
(although Charles Runyan (TRF proprietor)has promised one for the last 15
years. I know that Vicky Brit and Spitbits have free catalogues - get them.

3. Since this is the same block as the TR6, do the distributors match?
Answer:Same basic block, the distributors will swap, but I believe that the
GT6 cannot use the TR6 Lucas distributor is taller and will not clear the
lower hood of the GT6

4. Should I replace the whole unit? Answer:If you can find a replacement
unit, this may be your best shot. Probably there are other parts of the
distributor that are also worn.

This was a bit long-winded, but hopefully it helped you.

Hi all,

I am a newbee to your list. My son recently purchased a '73 GT6. Is it ok to
ask questions about it here?

Anyway, it has the Delco Remy D204 distributor. The top bushing/washer is
shot. how do I pull the tach drive to get to it? Is there a trick to pulling
out the freeze plug looking thing?

Since this is the same block as the TR6, do the distributors match? Should I
replace the whole unit?

If I'm out of place kindly let me know and I'll be quiet.
