I cannot see why someone would say that crank wear and cam wear are
related somehow. Bottom line - you need to measure both. Period.

If there are grooves in the bearing surfaces, then you'll likely need a
regrind. Undersize bearings are available in .010, .020 and .030.

GET THE BENTLEY MANUAL. It is a reprint of the factory manual. There are
some illustrations in there that are not exactly correctr, but it's the
best source out there.

IF you get questions about the process from the manual - ask the list.
You'll get all sorts of opinions and a few of us even know what we're
talking about.
