re front brake caliper pins, I recalled that mine came right out with no
problems ... I think they emerge only in one direction, and are held in
place at one end with clevis pins or some such (if no pins, is it possible
the DPO did something weird with one end of the pins?). Also, maybe they're
rusted in place, in which case it's time for Liquid Wrench and twisting them
with a set of pliers to loosen them if you can get access (grasp in the
middle of the pins so you don't mar the sliding surface.)
re bearings, I think the bearings pop out pretty easily once you've taken
off the nut, but I think you need a "drift" (brass or wood) to punch out the
bearing races. Harbor Freight Tools sells a drift set at a very reasonable
price, which I bought but haven't used yet.
and re roaring noise ... sure sounds like bearings. Replace before they
break!

Now that my baby is a daily driver, things are wearing out more quickly.
Like
brakes. and wheel bearings.
A couple of questions..
The front disc's, just how do I remove those securing pins for the pads?
Tried using a small flat punch. no joy. Trued a large flat punch. No joy.
Stopped attempting, as I've learnt through experience, a good whack is not
necessarily the best thing to try..
Secondly, my RH front wheel bearing is on it's last legs, I believe. Minor,
minor play, but lots of noise from it. a dull roaring type noise, just like
a
bad ball race. I believe to replace them, I need to remove the calipers,
under the bearing nut and whack it hard, and it'll spring / wiggle right
off?
Is this correct?
Seems this w/ends task of pulling the tranny for the sticky clutch fix is on
hold, it's now going to be pads and bearings....
Thanks List! - You're always so helpful!
