No good way to inspect them, either from the top or the bottom. Lobe
might be OK, but the lifter might be gone. The only way to do it is to put a
magnetic dial indicator on it and rotate the engine through by hand,
measuring the total travel of the pushrod. If the lobe or lifter has gone
south, the dial indicator will show it...

Anyone know if you can inspect a camshaft by removing the oil pan and
checking it from the bottom? Anyone out there in the process of a rebuild
maybe? If so can you see all the lobes? I suspect the last one back on cyl.6
has gone south.
