        Grant:

Just finished reupholstering my seats by myself. Never did it before
and it
still turned out really nice. I did not even put myself in the hospital
while doing it...

If you replace the diaphragm only, you can do it yourself without
removing the
lower seat cover. This assumes that the DPO did not bugger up the seat in
some way
so that you need to do anything special (my DPO did bugger them up,
unfortunately.
Found a pop-riveted shower curtain where the diaphragm should have been, and
some sticks
of wood wedged in the frame to keep your butt from falling through the seat.
Ack!). If
they are 'normal', you can replace the diaphragm with a pair of pliers,
simply by
removing the seat and turning it over to reveal the diaphragm.
If you wish to replace the foam, you will need the aforementioned
pliers,
and a can of spray on contact adhesive (got mine at a hardware store for
$6.) There
are some spiffy instructions, sort of "An idiots guide to reupholstering
your own
LBC seats" located here:

Dear List,

This is a follow-up to my posting about uncomfortable seats in my TR6. A
number of people recommended changing the foam and the rubber diaphragm.
Has anyone on the list done this work themselves? Or does it require the
services of a professional upholsterer? Also, is it possible to change the
foam without destroying/cutting the existing seat covers? I'd like to avoid
spending the extra $300 on a set cover kit if I can avoid it.
