Hi,
If you have problems idling, make sure that your ignition is in good shape
first. Don't forget to check the plugs - they'll tell you what's going on.
Once you know the ignition is perfect, then move over to the carbs and
take a look see. If the plugs indicate a weak mixture (white deposits or
melted electrodes (well, the melted electrodes might be a bit excessive at
idle! would be an indiactor) then look for vavuum leaks, loose throttle
shafts etc. - anything that would introduce more into into the air/fuel
stream. If the plugs get sooty, then you have a rich mixture and this
could be because the mixture is set too rich, the "choke" is sticking or
adjusted wrong, or it could be a float level problem (e.g. the floats are
set too high or the floats are "sinking").
Remember that 90% of all carb problems are due to ignition problems.
