Listers - especially Eastern Mass. area,
While on the road to the British car show on Rt. 495 near Wrentham, my
'74 TR6 started engine rapping loudly, and I coasted to a sickening stop
and got a AAA tow to Norwood. Some background info: my oil pressure
gauge had been registering a little low lately - about 15 lbs. running
hot. My mechanic advised me to run 10W50 weight oil and I had not had
a problem with the engine for the past four months. I was content to
leave it at that. Because I'm not mechanically inclined, I suspect my
oil pump has been gradually weakening its output. What damage has been
done has yet to be determined.
For those that live in Eastern Mass, I had my car towed to the only place
I could find in the phone book that was close to being British. The name
of the garage is "LaPlanta" in South Norwood. Does anybody know what
kind of reputation he has? His garage was very clean and organized - and
this gave me some hope. This has certainly been a discouraging event
since I just got my car out of the body shop with a new paint job.
What advise can you give me in the meantime?
