I've had the same symptoms when a battery starts to get weak. I'd have the
battery load tested to ensure it is strong.
What is happening is the battery is weak and when you load it up with the high
amperage required to turn the starter over the battery is discharged much more
quickly than normal (due to diminished capacity of the battery) and the
alternator is having to charge like crazy to recharge the now nearly dead
battery.
If the battery checks ok you may have a voltage regulator on the blitz or the
starter may have problems and is drawing too much amperage during cranking
(worn bearings, bad brushes, etc.).
As always, check all electrical connections first.
