I have a 1971 TR6 (built 10/70) CC57269, and no flame trap, but that
doesn't mean too much. To the best of my recollection, it was not painted
(it would have been silver)... I suspect that the DPO painted it.
Take a look at this original scan from a earlier Road and Track:

This may be a shameless and gratuitous plug, but you may want to check out
www.trregistry.com and check out models close to yours (like CC55585).

Subject: What color?
Listers:
On the 70 & 71 TR6's, there is a hockey puck-sized flame trap sitting
between the valve cover vent and the carbs. I'm spiffing up my engine
compartment and wondered if anyone knows what color these where originally
painted? I find remnants of both red paint and silver paint on mine.
thanks
Darrell
