Hugh: This should be a very simple, straight forward procedure. It installs from the rear of the cover. Ensure that the seal is facing the proper way. Lubricate the outside of the seal and the inside of the timing cover opening. You should almost be able to push it in by hand. A block of wood that's bigger than the diameter should spread a couple of hammer blows to drive it home. I hope this helps.
