It's a "signature" from the foundry that cast your head.

There's probably a "circle" around the B, this type of head is referred to
as a "circle b head".

They are generally sought after for wild porting/head mods by racers
because the circle B heads have thicker material in all the right places
so that you can really hog 'em out and not worry about making the material
too thin (and therefore potentiall cause problems if you overheat them.

If it's a "late style" head - even better. The late heads flow the best
"right out of the box).
