Perhaps someone who reads the big triumphs list can post this question
there. A man named John McCartney was on that list (hopefully still is) who
is a former Triumph employee. He had all sorts of first hand knowledge of
how things were done at the factory. Perhaps he can shed some light on why
some cars have the "hidden" numbers and some don't.
