The "HE" indicates further that this is from an early 1969 TR6 or a
1968 TR250. It indicates a high compression engine that was only in
the earliest cars.

The number that you have listed is an engine number. The commission
number
would be similar for your car, but not necessarily identical and would
end
with an 'L' or 'LO'. The commission number is normally recorded on an
aluminium plate fixed to the lefthand wheelarch under the bonnet and
also on
a small aluminium plate fixed to the left hand side of the windscreen
on the
inside of the car against the windscreen rubber. In the second case it
can
only be read from the outside of the car looking in.
