Greg,
Richard's stuff is really really nice. I have a GP3 cam in my tr6 and I am
going to be putting one in my tr250. It seems to be a really good grind for the
street. I'm not sure that the GP2 would do you any better on the road as that
is his autoX cam, but I really don't know because I have never driven a car
with one of thoes cams in it. With the GP3 I can have a spirited drive if I
change gears at 3500 to 3800, and it doesn't feel like I'm being meen to it at
all. If I really want to GO, I can change gears at about 5300 (if I take the
mufflers off it will make power to 6000 like Richard says it will) and stay in
the thick of the power. My car is running 2 ZS carbs, so I don't have any sort
of trick intake, but the car will run 0 to 60 in about 7.4 sec (no head porting
of any sort). If you do pick the gp2 cam you will loose out on some of your
"drag race" straight line acceleration but it should have really neat bottom
end power. Where you want your power is up to you, but I like to have a little
lope at idle, which the gp3 does nicely at about 850 rpm....it sounds really
neat at stop lights.
One other thing to keep in mind is that Richard's cams are relatively low
lift cams, and he makes up for this by selling high ratio roller rockers. I am
running 1.55 rollers form TS imports because price was an issue. Also, you may
want to think about cam bearings? especially if you have to run 1.65 roller
rockers.
I have a feeling that I wrote too much, but if you have any other questions
about my setup, feel free to ask...you can't go wrong with any of Richard's
stuff
