Hugh,
I did this replacement of the rear seal about a month ago, together with a
gear box replacement and clutch.
Because I was verry close to the rear oil seal;I decided to replace this to.
After You have take off the flywheel(look out,it's mutch havier than You
think),take the two bolts witch are closest to the alu sealcarrier and all
the bolts who are visible at the alu carrier, then You can take the carrier
away. The removel was quite simple,on the open lips of a vice and with a
round piece of metal drive the seal out.
To replace the seal, oil the outside of the ring and drive the ring into his
place. When rebuilding the alu carrier to the block,You will see that there
is one bolt with a copper washer, this has to be on the top hole of the alu
housing.
After removing the flywheel,You have easely acces to the bronze spigot
bush, replace it when You are there, mine was completely oval.
The Parts needed are:spigot bush??(154219);oil seal crankshaft
rear(143456);gasket oil seal housing(105321);clutch alignment tool.
And when You have these things apart, take a good look to the clutch parts
and all the clutch mouvement parts in the gearbox, when You have the chance.
It's a lot of work,but it isn't that difficult.
