Tim---The British have their own way of wording the instructions, don't
they? When #11 and #12 valves are "on the rock" it means both intake and
exhaust valves are partially opened, and feeler gauges of the same
value can be inserted, and should have the same drag. (You first have to
adjust the rockers with both valves closed, and set the same.) Bottom
line is when checking 11&12 this way, both valves at #1 piston will then
be closed, with the piston at TDC and 'firing'. Note that is preferrable
to have the head off to verify this, but it can be done otherwise.
