If you get the TRF catalog, there used to be a section on how to get these
in.

Basically, it involves gently heating them in a small pan of water. The idea
is to get them soft and pliable. I added some Dawn dishwashing detergent
(liquid) to add some slip.

You have to work fast..getting them on the shaft and then working them into
the holes...I use a wooden chopstick for jobs like this.
