Howdy listers,
I have some bad news from the restoration front. I have found out
something that you all might new to be aware of if replacing the
hardware that secures the bonnet (hood) to the bonnet securing hinges.
The parts catalog shows that there are eight bolts with the same bolt
number that are required. See pg 361 of TRF green catalog - part HU807P
(#FD37). Two of the eight bolts mount to the side of the bonnet. Upon
install of a new set of bolts from TRF, I noticed (after of course) that
the bolt is too long as it left a nice dimple on the top side of the
bonnet. :-( It just happened to be my freshly repainted hood of
course. I didn't even look closely at the original bolts to look for
size difference since they are all the same part number. However, on
examination of the old bolts (I assume orignal since they have the
pointed tip) I noticed that two are shorter than the rest. I checked
with Dave at TRF and he checked the original Triumph parts books and
they also showed the eight bolts with the same length. Has anyone had
this problem? Are all 8 bolts supposed to be the same length?
