Dwayne---The oil pressure line to the gauge leaves the block just next
to the fuel pump. The block is threaded for a 1/8" NPT fitting. The
original line to the gauge was some sort of nylon, heated to fit over a
barbed connector, that screws onto the one at the block. While the TR
does have an oil warning light, should the oil pressure fall to near
zero, it's far better to have a workng gauge.

The oil pressure relief valve does what its name implies. When the oil
pressure reaches a certain (high) pressure, this spring-loaded valve
opens enough to relieve, or bleed off some of it, returning it to the
crankcase. It comes into play when the engine oil is very thick, as when
starting up from cold. The thought here is to save (the pump) from
building extreme hydraulic pressures.
