I used to use the "bang 'em til they come out" approach. I used an old 1/2" socket extension, a 2 pound sledge and a large socket or piece of pipe to receive the bearing cups. Recently, my neighbor bought a small arbor press ($40 or so) and it makes the job much simpler. It does need to be firmly attached to a fixed work bench though.
