Sounds to me like the O ring in the piston is leaking. More than likely
disintegrated. "O Ring inside the piston. What the hell is he talking
about", you might say. When rebuilding your carbs and changing the needle
you will note that there is an O ring to be replaced. Pull the piston out.
Undo the screw that holds the needle in. Then with the correct size
implement, for lack of a tool, push the center up (from the flat end) and
out of the long tube 'thing' in the piston. There is a small piece of metal,
like a quick retaining snap, that holds the center and the O ring in place.
Watch for this as it comes out. If your repair kit does not have one to
replace, you will need to re-use it. Replace parts and push all back up the
center. Restore needle
