Mike--- You have received many good suggestions on how to stop you valve
cover from leaking around its perimeter. Does it leak at any one point,
or seep out all around?
You mentioned that there is no obstruction at the valve cover vent (to
the carbon canister) but the oil cap shows signs of blow by. (Cap OK?)
There really shouldn't be pressure under the valve cover when the engine
is allowed to breathe properly. The blow by should come out of the hose
freely, even without a vacuum pull. As an interim measure, see if you
can feel this air escaping from the hose as the engine speed comes up.
You can leave it disconnected at the canister, if necessary, long enough
to be sure your valve cover isn't blowing oil out because of internal
pressure. Cap off the canister at this port during the test period.
Should this relieve the oil seepage, check the routing of the hoses at
the vacuum canister.
