Hi Timothy,
Hmmm, I had similar problems one year in my saloon.
Couple of thoughts...
1. Lift the cap off once the motor is up to temp - you should see water
flowing from the water pump. It shouldn't be a gush, but there should be a
definate flow.
2. When was the last time the radiator was flushed? This can make a big
difference (it did in my case). If it hasn't been done for a long time it
might be worth doing. Make sure you check all the rubber hoses at the same
time. It is not uncommon for them to become clogged up with scunge.
3. What's your thermostat like (probably stuffed now after the overheating)?
4. Finally, has your radiator been repainted at all. This is a long shot,
but was the cause of my problem - the radiator shop had used the wrong
paint and applied it quite thickly. One really hot days, the thermal
resistance on the fins was too high and my temperature started creeping up
especially in traffic.
Hope this helps.
Let us know how you get on
Cheers
Bernard
