Walt---No special tools needed here. Marking the threads before
unscrewing from the tie rod will get you close enough when putting the
new ends on. Alignment should be done.
The gaitor that covers the LEFT side tie rod can be devilish to slip
over. I found that turning the (larger) end inside-out about half way
back helps it to go over the rack. Brake fluid on the rubber helps slip
it over the last couple of inches.
A large hose clamp works here to secure it.
Turn both wheels to the extreme before clamping the small ends to the
tie rods.
I keep mine loose enough to turn by hand, but tight enough to keep dirt
and water out.
