Jim,
These rear disc brakes are for street cars, but if you have never overheated
and lost your brakes after driving really fast,(like driving through the
mountains) this conversion is probably not for you. If you ever have a problem
with one circuit locking up (front or rear), just plumb in a brake
proportioning valve, about $45.00. I did use the 7/8 on a race car but
overheated them under race conditions, will probably be ok on a street car.

Hello,
Thanks for the feedback. I don't intend to race or anything serious. I just
drive a bit on the fast side, and want the best possible stopping.
It looks like there is a bolt on upgrade for the front disks that gives you
about a 10% improvement. This is an inexpensive and simple project. Plus it
leaves the rears alone, so you don't have the problem of locking up the rear
wheels before you lock up the fronts.
Once that is done, I'll probably try to increase the size of the rear slave
cyclinder. Someone mentioned that there is a 7/8" one available. Again, I'll
need to watch out for braking balance, but the experience of some others is
positive.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. And keep me posted on your rear disk
project. It sounds interesting.

Mike,
I know that there are TR6 club racers out there that have rear disc and
have debated going this route with a small mechanical caliper too. If you
could get back with me when you have a better feel on pricing, I would
appreciate it. I am going to take one car and use some larger diameter rear
wheel cyclinders, but am still playing with another. It will probably wind up
as a rear disc car if things go according to plan.

Steve,
I am currently in the process of developing rear disc brakes for the
TR-6. It is the same basic set up we have been using on the tr-6 race cars in
the SCCA. They utilize rear discs from a 280 ZX, and a Wildwood Dynalite II 4
piston caliper, and I have the monting brackets made up. We are fairly close
to producing another run of the brackets, after redesigning them. I don't Know
the final cost yet because of waiting on some commitments to get the
production quantities up. We don't use parking brakes on race cars so you
would have to fashion an electric line lock of some sort.
