Russ, back at the ole bike shop, we used to lubricate any steel cables that
travelled in a
steel coil sheath with a graphite-based lubricant called Dri-Slide. I'd be
curious also if the
group has tried something like this with speedo/tach cables, or any other
cables on the car for
that matter. Dri-slide has a web site www.drislide.com

Subject: Lubricating new tach cables
What are the recommendations on lubricating new tach and speedometer cables-
should they be lubed and with what type of lubricant? While on the subject
of lubes - what do people use to lube their seat tracks? I cleaned mine up
and installed new o-rings adding a dab of white lithium grease but they are
still very hard to slide when installed. I was also going to try the spacers
that were used on the TR250 and 5 so they aren't buried as deep in the
carpet.
