When I did the engine bay I removed my EGR Valve. I blocked the two holes
and I stuffed rags into the openings where the diaphragm is located. I then
stuffed newspaper on top of the rags until I could put no more into
"mushroom like" head. With some still sticking out I carefully glass beaded
the entire unit. Upon finishing it I painted with some high temp silver from
Eastwood. Once dry I removed the paper, cloth and both plugs. I made sure
that it had no particles of class bead by high pressure air blasting from my
compressor. I dropped a couple of drops of oil into the top and replaced the
screw to its original position and hand moved the diaphragm to make sure it
did not stick. One more quick cleaning with compressed air and then I re
installed the valve. Has worked like a charm ever since, 5 years later and
about 25k miles. Ready to do it again.
