Jamie;
You're "a year-and-a-half away from being on the road" and you want to
know what size tires you should consider for your Panasports? Boy! Talk
about forward thinking!
I have seriously considered the 16x7's myself. They are, however,
expensive and at the other end of this costly restoration/purchase of
more-immediate items, for me. With "plus one sizing" I'd give Tirerack a
call. Their technical folks will probably be able to help out here. The
original redlines were, of course, 15" and had a 26.5" diameter and a
6.50" cross section. You don't want to change the outside diameter as it
makes your speedo of little use and you thereby affect the odometer,
too. I'm thinking a 215/60-VR16 would be the ticket. But, gain, double
check the dimensional specs at Tirerack. Their website also has
reader/user reviews of the tires they sell! The salespeople I've
encountered there are usually happy to help with such questions. At
least you've got a lo-o-o-o-ng time to think about it and plan for it!

P.S. Some of us here would like to hear what size/brand you end up
buying!
