I've seen this thread a few times in the last year or so. When
people start thinking back to the summer smoke from there tail pipes
and start to think about a TOTAL tear down. I'm sure Dick T. and Tim H.
will agree that one of the FIRST tools in anyones box should be a Leak
Down Tester. Buy one and learn to use it. It tells exactly what
percentage of each cylinders total presure is lost and were.
Another product on the market is an alternative to the bronze
valve guides are "K-Liners". When the guide is worn it is only out by a
few thousandths. Why replace 1/4 inch of materal? The guides are bored
out a few thousandths and this liner is pressed in, Quick and easy.
