Hi Richard,

I have done the same on my TR6, and found also that the gaskets had
basically turned to dust. I did pry the tabs on the small aux gauges, but
only enough to allow the bezel to rotate. I then rotated the bezels until
the tabs lined up with the holes and took them off. The trick here is to be
careful how far you bend the tabs as too far will cause a noticable dent in
the bezel where the tabs join it (I tried this on an old gauge first).

With regards to the wood grain, I found that while I was working on the
wood, I tended to notice all the little imperfections and I wasn't sure how
it would turn out. However, once the dash is back in the card and all the
instruments mounted, I have to look pretty hard to see any problems with
the dash.

One thing which might be worthwhile is to see if there is anyone in your
area who has a very original TR6 with low miles that you can look at, or
alternatively, you can have a look at some of the advertising brochures.
>From this you will be able to compare the finish on your dash to the original.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers
