Mark,

 I mounted my luggage rack and mirrors with stainless steel screws
coated with silcone. I live in a rainy area (Portland Oregon) but have
not had any rust problems from these areas.

I am not a fan of undercoating. This is a religious topic to some. My
personal issue with undercoating is that it traps moisture in the inevitable
cracks that occur. I prefer just washing off the undercarrage and letting
it air dry. Anytime moisture is trapped, rust occurs. But then I don't
live in a location where they salt the roads so I can't speak to that issue.
