All,
I recently went through the process of replacing main/big-end bearings
and thrust washers with the engine in-situ, and my report on the

Note that this will not guarantee you youthful oil pressures. There
are two other places which can rob you of oil pressure; the oil
pump and the valve guides. Replacing the pump at the same time as the
bearings is a good idea, and relatively inexpensive (in terms of time and
$$$), but if you go through all of this, and you still suffer low-pressure
blues, then, alas, the top end needs to come off.
