Hi Mike,
It sound's like the same problem my dad had with his Mk1 2000.
Dad had a new clutch put in and after a few miles the pedal went stiff and
was sticky on the way up, and made a squeal when hot. A call to a Triumph
specialist suggested getting the front of the nose piece honed to get rid
of the arris, and now three years later it's never done it again.
